OAP Assessments – A Deeper Understanding

This assessment is not for an autism diagnosis. It is an in-depth evaluation for children and teens who already have an ASD diagnosis and are supported by the Ontario Autism Program (OAP), and may be eligible for further funding to address co-occuring concerns.

You may still have big questions. Why is school a struggle? Are big emotions getting in the way? Could something else like ADHD, anxiety, or a learning disability be part of the picture? This assessment helps answer those questions by exploring your child’s learning style, emotional well-being, and cognitive skills.

Who can benefit?

This evaluation is designed for families who are seeking deeper insight and more effective strategies. It is ideal for:

Our Assessment Process

We understand that exploring emotional health can feel vulnerable. Our process is designed to be a safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental partnership with you.

The Initial Intake Session

Your journey begins with a complimentary phone call and a detailed virtual intake session to understand your unique needs and concerns.

The Assessment Sessions

In 2 to 4 in-person sessions, your child or teen will meet with our clinician in a calm, welcoming environment. We use a mix of conversation, standardized tests, and engaging activities tailored to their needs.

Analysis and Interpretation

Our clinicians carefully review all the information to identify your child’s unique profile of strengths and challenges, looking at how autism may interact with other factors.

The Feedback Session & Recommendations

In a final meeting, we share our insights in clear, straightforward language. We provide a comprehensive written report with actionable recommendations to guide your next steps.

How an OAP Assessment Helps You

Strengthening Your OAP & School Plan

A key goal of this assessment is to provide you with a practical tool to advocate for your child. The detailed findings in our report can help you make informed decisions about how to best use your OAP Core Clinical Services funding, ensuring the therapies and supports you choose are perfectly matched to your child’s needs.

Furthermore, the report provides the specific documentation often required by schools to create or refine an Individual Education Plan (IEP), helping your child get the classroom accommodations they need to thrive.
