You’re Keeping It Together, But It’s Getting Harder

You don’t have to be in crisis for therapy to help. If you’ve been running on empty, going through the motions, or carrying more than you’d like to admit, this is a space for you.

Most people who come to us aren’t in crisis. They’re capable, functioning adults, managing work, relationships, and responsibilities, but somewhere along the way, managing started to feel like all there is. If you’re in Hamilton, Burlington, Waterdown, or anywhere in the surrounding area, and you’ve been quietly wondering whether therapy could help, the honest answer is: it probably can. We offer individual therapy for adults at our Waterdown clinic and virtually across Ontario. You don’t need to hit rock bottom to deserve support.

You Might Be in the Right Place If…

You don’t need to arrive with a diagnosis or a clear explanation of what’s wrong. Many of the adults we work with come in saying some version of one of these:

Feeling Unlike Yourself

You’ve been going through the motions but can’t remember the last time you genuinely felt like yourself.

Constant Background Anxiety

Anxiety has become the low hum in the background, even when nothing is technically wrong.

Burnout That Rest Doesn’t Fix

You’re not just tired. You’re burnt out, and rest does not seem to bring you back.

A Major Life Change

A relationship ending, job loss, move, health scare, or transition has left you feeling unsettled.

Grief That Feels Stuck

Grief has settled in and feels complicated, heavy, or harder to move through than expected.

People-Pleasing Exhaustion

You’ve spent so long making room for others that you feel like there is barely space for yourself.

Relentless Pressure

High standards, high expectations, and constant pressure are becoming harder to carry.

Not Sure What Is Wrong

You may not have the words for it yet. You just know something feels off.

None of these require a crisis. All of them are reason enough to reach out.

How We Work With Adults

There’s no single method that works for every person. At Dr. Sala & Associates, we draw on several evidence-based approaches and shape the work around your goals, your pace, and the way you’re wired. Here’s a plain-language overview of the approaches we use most often with adults:

Every client who comes through our door is different. Your therapist will work with you to understand what you need and adapt the approach accordingly. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all process. It’s a collaboration.

Who You’ll Work With

Our adult therapy clients are seen by experienced, registered clinicians who are matched to your specific needs and goals.

What to Expect

Starting something new can feel uncertain. Here’s exactly what the process looks like at Dr. Sala & Associates.

Free 15-Minute Consultation

You reach out through our contact form or by phone. We’ll schedule a brief call so you can share what’s bringing you in and ask any questions. There’s no commitment and no pressure, just a conversation to make sure we’re the right fit for you.

Intake Session

Your first full appointment gives your therapist a chance to understand your history, your goals, and what you’d like to be different. This session is about listening, not diagnosing. You set the pace.

Ongoing Sessions

Regular sessions, typically every one to two weeks, form the core of the work. Your therapist will tailor the approach to what’s most useful for you, and you’ll always have a sense of where you’re headed and why.

Goals Review

Periodically, you and your therapist will check in on your progress, revisit your goals, and decide together how to move forward. Therapy isn’t indefinite. It’s purposeful, and it moves at your pace.

Session format

Sessions are offered both in-person at our Waterdown clinic and virtually via secure video for adults anywhere in Ontario.

Questions Adults Often Ask Before Starting

You’ve Already Done the Hardest Part

Deciding you want things to be different takes more courage than most people give themselves credit for. Reaching out is the step most people put off the longest, and the one that tends to matter most. We’d be glad to hear from you.
